Government to scrap or revamp solar Feed-in-Tariff stats
The Government have all-but finalised plans on scrapping the current
publication of weekly Feed-in-Tariff (FiT) figures, which are a key factor in deciding upon forthcoming changes to
the subsidy.
The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) currently publishes weekly data on solar FiT
uptake, but the figures are drawn from different sources and can sometimes produce an inaccuracy of up to 40 per
cent.
Inaccurate and delayed reporting of installation figures resulted in the last change to the FiT
being delayed by a month. Fortunately this had little impact on the industry with solar maintaining its hold as a
popular investment and key method in combatting the spiralling energy costs.
